Early February club members headed up to Petone beach to take part in our semi regular clean up. Around 3 hours were spent combing the beach, collecting a surprising large amount of trash. Mostly this was fast food containers, McDonald’s straws being the catch of the day, with discarded plastic toys coming in a close second.
Waitangi Day saw us manning a sausage stand in Petone, followed by a movie night early march, showing the film “Rocket”. The purpose was to raise funds for an upcoming project, in conjunction with a new not-for-profit organisation, supplying new basketball hoops for Naenae Primary School. More to come soon!
District Conference 9940
Late March members of the club will be attending the District Conference. We will be looking forward to seeing what’s happening in the wider Rotary community and looking at how Rotaract can further apply itself to projects and events in the upcoming year.
Rotaract is a networking group for Tertiary students and young professionals. We meet 3 times a month to chat and plan, and take part/organise events and projects within our community. If you would like to get involved, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
